There has been 270 per cent increase in traumatic injury cases during last twenty years. Among them major number is that of Spinal cord injury cases due to increasing traffic on the road, the industrial and agricultural operations and increasing rate of crime and conflicts.Life after spinal cord injury could be as close to normal if one has complete knowledge about the physical changes and complications that spinal cord injury brings. Second thing is to learn to manage one's daily life in the light of that knowledge. Then one can perform daily activities of life may be a little differently, with little, complete or no help.

The idea behind creating this link is to fully equip you with the correct and practical knowledge about the complications after spinal cord injury and the ways and means to manage them inorder to take control of your life.

The first topic of the link " life after spinal cord injury" deals with " What is Spinal Cord Injury". It would give you an idea about the structure of the backbone and how spinal cord is part of human brain and runs through the backbone spreading it's network of nerves through out the body connecting various organs and systems with the brain. You would also get to know how you loose control over your bladder and bowel after spinal cord injury. Also how due to loss of sensations one can develop pressure sores and how to prevent them. I would also explain about other medical emergencies. But the important thing is to learn to manage these problems of bladder and bowel. So that one can move around any where free of any psychological worry of having any bladder or bowel accident. One can go out to work or for entertainment any where anytime.

One would also get to know about the sexual dysfunction after spinal cord injury and the sexual options available. Many a times this topic is not being talked during hospitalization for various reasons, biggest being the social stigma attached to it. But here you would find how the knowledge about the subject gives you the confidence to lead a complete sexual life
